A Second Chance

Paranormal NA

Life isn’t all sunshine and love like they tell you when you are a child. Life is about pain, especially mine. I live mine with a daily reminder of the fact that I didn’t fight for the woman I love… I didn’t go after her when I wanted to.

My heart is wrecked, my chest in a vice, and yet I am somehow supposed to keep going, to live with it…

So day after day, I live with it, until Annabelle walks back into my life, and she is as beautiful as I remember.

Free is how I have lived since I left Fetterman.

I try my best to ignore the pain of my past, but my mind always turns back to him and all the questions I have. I am stubborn, I’m well aware of that, and I’ve never been able to bring myself to go back there until now.

The man who is supposed to be my father is ill and I have business to do with him.

I don’t expect to see him, Derek.

I don’t expect him to be even more handsome than ever… angrier than ever.

I don’t know what I expect, and I certainly don’t expect a second chance…

Returning Home

Contemporary NA

“You don’t meet the love of your life when you’re just a kid.

I lost count of the times I was told to move on. To get over the boy who stole a piece of my heart and kept it with him long after he unexpectedly left town. You can’t force someone to love you and it’s impossible to love enough for two, but I tried.

My life moved forward. My heartache slowly lessened. My reasons for living evolved but my heart never forgot. That’s why when Luke Runyan finally returned home, he turned my life upside down.

My world revolved around her. I would do anything to make my girl happy, that included setting her free.

Without my permission, life marched on but when I closed my eyes at night, she was always the first to greet me. I should have known that returning home would wreak havoc on my life and I should have known even one glance in her direction would make leaving without her a second time practically impossible.

Loneliness is a desolate feeling that claws its way into the very

fabric of your life, dragging you to despair. It is an isolation of your

heart and soul and a rejection of everything you are, and everything

you try to be, by the very people who should be showering you with

love and acceptance…

A life of solitude becomes the norm for Charlotte Whittaker. An emptiness fills

her with a void so big that she finds herself running to escape it—running to be alone…

It takes a new country and a new outlook on friendship for her to begin to build up her

trust in others again.

Easton James wraps his heart in tissue paper, locking it away and hiding the key, as he

tries to put distance between it and the life he thought was already paved for him.

He walks a lonely man—a band of patient friends by his side—searching

for answers that will reunite him with the man he knows hides

deep inside of himself.

Travelling roads of uncertainty that push and pull them like magnets,

the pair discover a middle ground on uncharted territory that gives them

hope for a chance at a new kind of love.

Her eyes meet mine again, and I clench my jaw as I see them change ever so slightly, as if her walls are building back up again, as if she is desperate to hide away whatever it is that is hurting her. “Thank you.” “You’re welcome.” I lean back on my elbows and stare up at the sky. It’s clear tonight, not a single cloud obstructing the beautiful canvas of brightly lit stars. “Did you also know… that stars don’t actually twinkle?” She sits cross-legged, her head hanging down and her finger drawing patterns in the patch of soil in front of her. Turning to look at me again, she eyes me suspiciously. “Are you just making this shit up for something to say?” I am gifted a lopsided smile before she lifts her head so that she is looking at the sky. “Go on then. Enlighten me.” Dropping back completely, I lie on the ground and stretch my legs out in front of me, linking my fingers behind my head as my gaze returns to the sky. “Yeah, so stars just appear to twinkle. The twinkle that we see isn’t a property of the star whatsoever. It’s actually caused by the earth’s turbulent atmosphere.” Charlie stares at me, looking genuinely interested in the words spewing from my lips. “As light from a star passes through the atmosphere, especially when it appears near the horizon, it must also pass through several layers of rapidly differing density, which in turn deflects the light.” I look over at her again, but this time, her brows narrow, confusion painting itself across her pretty face. Not wanting to lose her in scientific jargon, I attempt to explain it differently. “Think of it as a ball in a pinball machine. The light eventually gets to your eyes, but every deflection causes it to change in color and intensity. The result is what we commonly refer to as ‘twinkling’.” Charlie mimics my position, lying back on the ground beside me, her hands folding loosely over her stomach, and she turns her head in my direction. Her eyes dance across my face, and her voice drops, curiosity seeping into her tone. “So what happens above the earth’s atmosphere?” “Nothing.” I give a gentle shake of my head, pretending to not notice the way her eyes have stopped moving, her gaze now lingering on my mouth. “Stars don’t twinkle. Not from up there anyway.” She looks back up at the inky blackness. “Then I think I’d prefer to stay down here where at least there is an illusion of twinkling.” She lifts her arms up and reaches toward the sky, stretching them. “You really are full of random facts, aren’t you?” “Yeah.” My lips pull tight, and even though I have no desire to think of Bethany, especially with Charlie lying beside me, my thoughts lead right to her.

Author Bio

Eleanor Lloyd Jones

Raised in a little village in North Wales, a fierce love of books and reading was instilled in her by her parents from a very early age, and she has vivid memories of reading secretly under the blankets with a torch for hours after lights out, often getting caught! She was blown away by The Borribles Trilogy – Michael De Larrabeiti at nine years old, and it was then that Eleanor Lloyd-Jones fell head over heels with the idea of imaginary worlds.

A persistent and professional daydreamer, something she still prides herself on being, she spent most of her early childhood inside her own head making up stories or scenarios, climbing trees, building dens or doing anything arts and crafty. Music also played a huge part of her young life. Growing up on The Beatles, U2 and Status Quo, her obsession with Top of the Pops and vinyl twelve inches grew into a love affair with music that has only grown and expanded over time: there is rarely a moment where music is not playing in her life, and in turn, rarely a time when she is not singing, even if it is in her head!

She had always thought she would write a book some day – it has been an ambition for as long as she can remember – and has always been told that she ‘has a way with words’. Over the years, she’s dabbled in the odd piece of prose, helped friends to write letters and résumés and prides herself on her hilarious lyrical genius when composing poems for friends’ birthdays! Life, however, got in the way and her dream was stored on the back burner as she put herself through university and started a family. It was only when she was nearing the ‘forty’ milestone that she decided it was time she got some of the ramblings and chatterings in her head down on paper.

A creative, guitar-playing mum of one boisterous, but pretty damn cool boy, she classes herself as a Yorkshire gal now after moving to Leeds when she was eleven. Eleanor works full time as a teacher, but grabs every spare minute she can to write; be it on the train, lunchtimes at work or foregoing sleep for an extra hour or two in the evenings. Her hope for the future is for people to fall in love with her characters as much as she does. Not a big ask really!

Soooo I have been thinking….

And those who know me are probably thinking oh shit here she goes again. I found this on my timeline the other night and it upsets me to think there are kids out there with unbelievable talent yet so little confidence. They are defined by their learning disabilities like dyslexic, autistic etc.

But what about the areas they excel at such as art? These kids have a natural talent that they should be shouting from the rooftops, yet because they have a learning disability they are hiding in the shadows.

Which brings to me to what I have been thinking. Could we help some how? Help raise their confidence? Help show the world there is more to these kids than what society has labelled them?

Could we hold an event for under 18’s and/or their parents to show how amazing these kids are? The book community is amazing. Could we start broadening our community to help others? There’s been plenty of auctions to help raise funds for families struggling with medical costs. So is it possible to sort something out for these kids?

So I created this blog after talking to Ewelina from Heavenly Good Books. She gave me the confidence to try it out after months of umming and arrring. Then Zoey Derrick said I should be on Facebook and the support her and The Z Team showed me was unreal. My likes grew faster than I ever anticipated and I was overwhelmed!
A year on and now I am constantly second guessing.
Does my blog help?
Are people reading my posts?
Is there any point in having a blog?

I love this community, the support, the love I have seen is amazing. Yes there is some bad shit every now and again but the good stuff is greater. I am always trying to think of ways to help authors more.
SASS, BOB and ROAR were all set up with authors in mind.

SASS is a street team for struggling authors. Those with less than 3k likes and no street team of their own. We are made up of readers, pimpers, PA’s, bloggers and any other service an author just starting out may need. We have tons going on, bookclub, SassyPage, SASS Promotions, anthology in the works, newsletters and we are even hoping to pull off a signing in the US and UK. I am super proud of this group and the members. Love them with all my heart.

BOB is a group for pimpers, readers and authors alike. Chat, pimp, make friends anything goes. We have a weekly banner contest with the option of the winning author having a takeover. We have a group week every fortnight again with the author having option of a takeover.

ROAR is for reviews only. Amazon is getting worse for removing reviews. We had 4 removed last week alone. I was so pissed off I said fuck it and created ROAR. Here you post reviews. Any genre and rating as long as it’s respectful. The aim is to be the one stop shop for recommendations! Real reviews, real people!

All these things to help out authors and I am still wondering, is it helping? What else can I do? What can we do? But I keep plodding on praying I am helping, praying people are taking note of the books, the authors that pass through my blog and groups.

Any suggestions on what we can do as a blog, group or community are highly appreciated. Sorry for the long post!

Chance on Love by Nancy Corrigan

Sometimes the only choice is to take a chance…and enjoy the consequences.

Sean Reynolds is content wielding his dominant personality as the public face of Kagan Industries. Pack leadership—and all the responsibilities that go with it—doesn’t interest him. But when alpha-in-waiting Nic Kagan skips town, there’s no one to take on his aging father’s spirit wolf. No one but Sean.

Sean wants none of it, but with his wolf growling in eagerness to fill that void, he heads for the bar in an attempt to drink the beast into submission.

He’d like to ignore the sultry blonde shifter burning up the dance floor with moves that make him painfully aware of the full moon. But when she abruptly disappears, his wolf sends him in hot pursuit. Following the scent of a female he can see in his bed not for a single night, but for a lifetime…

He crouched so as not to appear as threatening and folded his hands loosely in front of him. “Well, now that you made me ruin my clothes and took me for a run through the woods, are you going to tell me what frightened you?”
She stiffened but didn’t shift.
He motioned in the direction of the bar. “Was it that pathetic human? Or a different one, because I’ll—”
She shook her head.
“Another shifter, then? Someone from your pack harassing you?” Without the evidence of one, it didn’t seem likely, but he couldn’t imagine what else would’ve sent her running.
Again, she shook her head.
“Okay, then.” He waited a moment, then blew out a breath. “Look, why don’t you just shift and talk to me? Don’t be afraid. I’m not going to hurt you.”
A long moment passed while she studied him through her icy wolf eyes before she eased her tense posture and shifted. He watched in awe as she changed shapes, a sight he’d seen hundreds of times, yet never had the flip in forms mesmerized him the way hers did. For one brief second, a fuzzy image of a white wolf meshed with that of the woman who housed it. A glowing tether connected them, heart to heart. Her wolf’s shape faded and hers gained dimension. In the next moment, a naked female stood before him.
Hand planted on her hip, she raised her chin. “I’m not afraid of you.”
He swept his gaze over her. It was impossible not to. Full breasts, shapely hips and lush thighs—she was beautiful. No, gorgeous. Hell, even that didn’t do her justice, but he couldn’t think of a better description. He only knew he’d never laid eyes on a more perfect female, but if he didn’t tear his gaze from the space between her legs, her opinion of him would be less than stellar.
He glanced into her face. “I’m glad. I didn’t want to scare you, but I was afraid someone was after you. When you took off, I reacted. I couldn’t let any of the humans see a wolf running through their town.”
“You’re right.” Her shoulders slumped. “I’m sorry. I wasn’t thinking.”
“Don’t apologize. It’s the full moon. Makes even the most levelheaded more prone to act on instinct.”
“That’s what I was trying to avoid by running away from you.”
“Me?” He pointed to himself. “What did I do to frighten you? Was it because I shoved that loser against the wall? If so, you should know I didn’t hurt him.”
“I believe you.”
He pushed to his feet. “Then what did I do?”

About the Author:
A true romantic at heart, Nancy Corrigan is convinced there’s a knight in shining armor for every woman (or man), but you won’t find damsels in distress in her stories. She adores pairing alpha heroes with women strong enough to match them and bring them to their knees. She also enjoys flipping the traditional roles in romances because her motto is—love and people should never be forced to conform to anyone’s norm.

She holds a degree in chemistry and has worked in research but now focuses on ensuring quality. She considers it the perfect outlet for her as she’s the first to admit she has some OCD tendencies. It carries over into her writing life too. While engrossed in a novel, she has a habit of forgetting to eat and sleep. Fortunately, she’s married to her own knight in shining armor who understands her oddities and loves her anyway. They reside in Pennsylvania with their three children, dog, snake and guinea pigs. Her other interests include tattoos, animals, classic cars and all things spooky and sexy.

I have been given this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Wow. Just wow. This is just a taster of what the rest of the series has to offer. If the intention is to get the reader hooked I am well and truly caught. The writing style, flow of text and the information that is given providing just enough to make me go and purchase the rest of the books in the series. Nancy Corrigan has created a fantastic world and I cannot wait to explore it more.

I definite recommended read, if you can’t read her straight away get her as the ‘Up Next’ on your TBR.

I feel a finger lift my chin and find myself looking at him. My glasses slide back on my nose. I didn’t even hear him move towards me.
“I can protect both of you. Your sister, too. I know it will make you both feel better knowing you’re safe. What can it hurt? You won’t even notice I’m around.”
“That’s highly improbable. You’re ginormous and look like a male sex god.”
“You can’t say shit like that to me.” He runs a hand through his hair like I’ve made him uncomfortable. So much for cutting through the bullshit.
“Sorry. I—”
His mouth hits mine, cutting off my words. For a moment I’m still not sure what just happened. I thought I had pissed him off. I dig my fingers into his shirt as he continues to go at my mouth. When I feel his hands go to my ass, I gasp. He takes the opening and pushes his tongue into my mouth.
I let my eyes close as he devours my mouth. This is nothing like the kiss I had before. I push my tongue into his mouth, mimicking his movements, wondering if I’m making him feel what he’s making me feel.
My body feels like I’m buzzing. Something inside of me is coming to life. I push further into him, wanting to be closer. I deepen the kiss. He goes to pull back, but I wrap my hands around his neck, not even noticing that I’m eye level with him and that my feet are no longer on the floor as I pull him back to me.
I move against him, needing the friction. His cock is settled against my core, and I move my hips against him, taking what I want. What I need. Everything else is forgotten, my mind just shuts off.
He growls into my mouth, and I swear the sound vibrates through my whole body and goes straight to where I need it. My body explodes. A moan falls from my lips as I finally pull them from his. I let my head drop back and enjoy the sensations rocking through my whole body. I feel like I’m floating.
When I finally come back down, I realize I kind of am. My legs are wrapped around his waist and I’ve somehow ended up with my back to a wall. I feel his tongue come out and lick my neck, making my body jerk.
“I wanna do that again,” I say lazily. I think I could do that over and over again.
“Your place isn’t secure. Come to mine and I’ll do it over and over again.”
“Mmkay,” is all I say. I’d probably go anywhere he asked me at the moment.
“Holy shit.”
I roll my head to the side and see my sister standing in the doorway. A man stands beside her with a shocked looked on his face, mirroring Elle’s expression. I’m guessing that’s her guard.
“I’m keeping this one,” I say, locking my arms around him, not wanting to do a trade.
“Fuck,” Hart says, placing me on the floor. I regretfully let my arms fall from around his neck.
He steps in front of me, blocking my view of my sister and the other man.
“I don’t think you should be her guard, Hart,” I hear the other man say. His words make my heart drop.
“I’m moving in with him,” I retort, popping my head out from behind him. Elle giggles. Both men just ignore us.
“Fuck,” Hart says again, like it’s the only word he knows at the moment. He runs his hands through his hair again. It must be something he does when he’s frustrated.
“We can get Kent to guard her,” the other man says, making me scowl at him.
“No,” Hart bites back, finally giving us another word besides fuck. “I’ll get it under control,” he says before looking down at me. “Go pack your stuff.”

***REVIEW ***

I have been given this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book made me laugh within the first couple pages. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I enjoyed Drake and Zoey’s interaction with each other throughout the book. The only thing I can say is I wish the ending had more to it, I was left wanting just a little bit more to the story.
